About me

I moved from Sydney, Australia to Doha, Qatar in July 2011 with my partner, ‘The Coach’, and our dog, Bliss. So far the expat life here is great and I can’t believe my luck! By day I make a crust editing magazines and writing a bit on the side. By night I’m learning to cook after being diagnosed with Candida recently. That means I’m sugar-free and gluten-free from here on in! It’s changed my life and I tend to gush – you’ve been warned!

This blog

I’m new to Qatar so I’m in no way an expert on the place but I am an expert on being fresh of the boat or a ‘newbie’ as I like to call it. So if you’re coming to Qatar or just moved here, check out some tips every Newbie Tuesday. If you’ve lived here for ages feel free to add any advice.

I am NOT a food blogger. No no no. But it’s not every day you meet someone in the Middle East who mostly eats a sugar- and gluten-free diet so it would be rude not to share some of my experiences!

I love getting emails so please write to me if you have any questions about Doha, moving here with a dog, eating sugar and gluten-free…anything! If I don’t know the answer I will do my best to find out. And if you don’t have any questions, email me anyway – we should do lunch!

I’m happy! I hope you are too.

Velours x
